Song Analysis
The part of the song I have gotten inspiration from is the part where it goes, "My little town blues, They are melting away, I'll make a brand new start of it, In old New York" and also "These vagabond shoes, Are longing to stray, Right through the very heart of it New York, New York".

Week 14:
[caption id="attachment_661" align="alignnone" width="1920"]
I wanted to draw a tourist girl walking along the streets of a city, but I felt like it didn’t really fit the song so I decided against that.[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_664" align="alignnone" width="1917"]
Then, I came up with an idea where the girl does not have a very good family relationship and she just wants to leave it all behind, thus running away to the city.[/caption][caption id="attachment_665" align="alignnone" width="1917"]
Sketches to figure out the positioning and exploration of other poses.[/caption]

Reflections
Experience:Week 13: I found that I was very decisive on what song I wanted to use because I felt like it was an inspiring song and I wanted to illustrate that.
Week 14: I wanted to have a tourist girl wandering a big city but as I thought about the lyrics, I decided that I wanted a girl with some sort of backstory to her. I wanted to have a story in my triptych.
Week 15: I feel quite confident with especially the second part of my triptych of the shading I did. I felt like the shadows fit in well. The puddle, however, doesn't really feel that realistic and not what I wanted.
Observations:Week 13: I found color palettes and inspiration on how I can do my triptych. I focused on a palette with a blue to red/pink transition so that I can show the move from cool tones to warm tones in my triptych.
Week 14: I did the sketches of what I wanted this week. I also explored some poses for the girl, and laid down some of the base colors of my first part of the triptych.
Week 15: I wanted to smudge all the shading, but then I kept some sharp lines for variety. I also tried to create a transition from black and white to color, but once I tried that, I didn't want that anymore.
Findings:Week 13: The Pinterest photos I found were mostly of Chinese comics without words, but were still expressive with their composition. I wanted to translate that into my triptych. Also, since the song was set in the '80s, I found a few outfits to show the time period the triptych is set in.
Week 14: I wasn't sure how to create multiple artboards in Photoshop at first, so I asked my friends and they taught me how.
Week 15: I realized how the contrast of smudged lines and sharp lines for shading can make a piece look a lot more interesting. I also tried to draw a puddle in the second part of the triptych, although it still doesn't seem very convincing.

Song Analysis
[Verse 1]
Start spreading the news
I am leaving today
I want to be a part of it
New York, New York
I am leaving today
I want to be a part of it
New York, New York
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it
New York, New York
Are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it
New York, New York
I want to wake up in a city
That doesn't sleep
And find I'm king of the hill
Top of the heap
That doesn't sleep
And find I'm king of the hill
Top of the heap
These little town blues
They are melting away
They are melting away
[Hook 1]
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
In old New York
If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you
New York, New York
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you
New York, New York
[Verse 2]
New York, New York
I want to wake up in a city
That never sleeps
And find I'm a number one
Top of the list
King of the hill
I want to wake up in a city
That never sleeps
And find I'm a number one
Top of the list
King of the hill
A number one
These little town blues
All melted away
All melted away
[Hook 2]
I'm about to make a brand new start of it
In old New York
In old New York
And if I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you
New York, New York, New York
New York, New York, New York
