Overall Reflection

 

Experience

I felt like I constantly had to keep myself updated with what I had to do. This was not a bad thing, as it trained me to be more aware of what is happening in class.
I also felt that I had to test my limits multiple times. I'll admit that I am not the best in typography, but Mr Vinod and Mr Shamsul do give me advice that helps me improve greatly.
Maintaining an e-portfolio is also harder than I thought it would be. It isn't just posting photos of my work and calling it a day--it takes time to think and reflect on my process as well.

 

Observations

I realized that I never really understood typography. I thought that it would be easy to grasp, but throughout the classes, I did not know anything at all.
I also realized how little terminology I knew, but at the end of this class, I would say that I can at least understand 50% of it. I still have a lot of it to learn though.
For the blog, I felt that it was hard to update constantly. Sometimes, I would forget to update and would suddenly find myself a few weeks behind. The reflections also require a lot of time to think.

 

Findings

I learnt how much work type designers and people of the like put into designing and typography as a whole. It is not easy and one must have a lot of determination and be hardworking in order to excel in this field.
I also found that it is not easy to have a blog up-to-date, and there are some people who dedicate themselves to posting daily. I have gained more appreciation and admiration for people like that.
